Translated from original German description: In February 1939 this typeface was produced by the type foundry Ludwig & Mayer in Frankfurt am Main with the name “Stop!” released. And, while this bristly brushstroke actually has prior rights, I couldn’t stick with the name Stop, the modern Stop is just too well known for that. But since it is a German creation, I also decided on a German equivalent, more appropriate to the time of origin, and gave it the name “Halt”.
